NY State of health offers a range of Health insurance programs - Qualified Health Plans, Child Health Plus, The Essential Plan, and Medicaid. ACA Options

Qualified Health Plans (QHP)

Qualified Health Plans  are private health insurance plans that meet ACA (Affordable Care Act) Standards, at four levels of coverage - platinum, gold, silver and bronze. Qualified Health plans cover essential health benefits including preventive care, prescriptions, mental health services, specialist visits and maternity care.  The QHP have monthly premiums; the price you pay depends on the plan you choose and your tax credit eligibility.

Child Health Plus (CHP) 

Child Health Plus is a health insurance program for children under age 19.  This comprehensive coverage includes medical, prescriptions, dental and vision.  Premiums are based on household size and income and range from $0 to $60 per month (per child) for lower income families.  Families with income above the subsidized income level are eligible to purchase CHP at full cost premiums. 

Medicaid

Medicaid provides $0 premium coverage for low income families with eligibility up to 138%FPL(2025). Medicaid covers medical, prescriptions, dental and vision at little or no cost for included services. 

Essential Plan

The Essential plan provides $0 premium coverage for lower income families with eligibility between 138% and 250% FPL(2025). The Essential plan covers medical, prescriptions, dental and vision with copays for included services.
